A final stroke in the ode to my November residency in Japan: a large watercolor portrait of a character nurtured by all of my observations, experiences and impressions gathered during my explorations of South-Western Japan. This protagonist was kind of a newly formed spirit of the area and its green hills, sandy beaches, eagles and persimmons, house crabs and cabbage patches, and something else - an invisible yet prominent presence, something alive and unique that made me generate a totally new emotional tie to the place.
